1. Become More Business Savvy
For many recent graduates of physical, occupational, and speech therapy programs, this is their first time applying for a professional position. While many students hold part-time jobs during school or during the summer, many have never had to negotiate or sign a contract. Where do you even start? Many school programs don’t even have one business class to prepare you for the business side of therapy. Some new grads have never had to file taxes before. What about the recent graduate who is about to turn 26 and will have to think about health insurance? The Travelers Conference is the perfect venue to attend informational sessions on understanding how travel pay works, how to work with multiple companies, how to read your contract, filing taxes as a traveler, and so much more!
2. Networking
Are you a new grad who knows you want to travel, but have no idea where to start in terms of agency and/or recruiter? Do you find it difficult to narrow down your best match over email and phone conversations? By attending the Travelers Conference, you’ll have the opportunity to meet and connect with top recruiters from several agencies. In some cases, you will even be able to have a conversation over a drink or a meal. You’ll be able to put a face to the name and truly see if you feel comfortable with the person on the other end of the telephone line. You’ll also have the opportunity to meet experienced travelers who have worked with multiple companies and can give you different perspectives.
3. Make New Friends
In addition to networking with other traveling therapists, you’ll make many new friends over this three day period. Why is this so important? It’s essential because as fun and exciting as travel therapy can be, it can also be very challenging at times. It’s only natural to have to navigate obstacles at some point in your travel journey! The friends you make at The Travelers Conference will be able to relate to you better than your family and friends may be able to. You are about to LIVE WHAT YOU LOVE and the other therapists attending The Travelers Conference totally get it. This is also a great place to connect with experienced travelers that can help serve as mentors in your travel journey. After hanging out at the poolside cabana, socializing over meals, and dancing at the exclusive after party, you’ll have made memories with new people you can call your travel buddies forever!
4. CEUs
As a new graduate, you are considered up-to-date on all clinical content and are not required to complete CEUs until after your first licensure renewal. However, you will have the opportunity to earn up to 10 CEUs at The Travelers Conference. After spending 2-3 years in the classroom learning clinical content, you’ll have the opportunity to earn CEUs that directly impact us in our everyday life as traveling therapists. In addition to the business topics discussed earlier, there are CEUs about housing, traveling with pets, destinations, depression, RV living, tax-homes, and so much more! You get all of this plus your meals and the after party for just $119 as long as you register before June 1st! Have you ever been to a weekend long CEU course that included 5 meals and an after party for $119??? For an additional fee, you also have the opportunity to enroll in medical Spanish intensives and complete your CPR renewal while attending the conference.
